Description
Carrie Bradshaw famously said, “It takes ten years to become a true New Yorker,” but here at TravelinGals, we’d like to believe it’s far less than that – so long as you’re in-the-know. And, with our super-duper list of everything hot, you’re bound to experience all the fabulousness enjoyed by the “true” Manhattan league of tenured locals epitomized by our favorite HBO series: the all-black designer uniform, the free-spirited chatter over dirty martinis, the fab parties, hookups, and goings on all over town – New Yorkers (and the fictional characters that represent them) certainly come from a different breed! Take it from us - there is NO place like New York.
From an afternoon stroll through Central Park, to dancing the night away at Tenjune, to devouring a Cuban sandwich curbside at the local bodega, New York is the ultimate playground to satisfy every whim! In the mood for an Art House flick at the Angelica (we loved Sienna in Factory Girl) and glass of Merlot at Centovini across the street? It’s just another Wednesday in New York. How about a power shop through the meatpacking district or trapeze lessons on the West End? In this town, you can do all of that and more. Perhaps that’s why its inhabitants are so exciting!
With thousands of restaurants, nightclubs, shopping destinations, and exciting things to do on any night of the week, New York is truly the City that Never Sleeps. But if shuteye is something you hold dear to your heart, there are plenty of daytime activities to indulge in: get your culture on at the MET located along Fifth Avenue’s famed Museum Mile, or get provocative at the Museum of Sex. In the market for a piece to call your own? Head to Chelsea’s gallery district or browse the outdoor markets in SoHo. And, if you’re looking to do something really (really) local, trade a day at Barneys and lunch at Fred’s for a day of antique shopping in Tribeca and a fresh piece of fruit from the Farmer’s Market downtown. Catch a concert in Central park, peruse the old-school record stores along Bleecker Street, or do it big at Madison Square Garden – whether it’s a Knick’s game or the Justin Timberlake concert – a night at the Garden is not to be missed!
At any rate, the “City that Never Sleeps,” the “City that takes ten years to call your own,” the “Big Apple,” or whatever you want to call it – New York is an experience not to be missed, and as TravelinGals you can trust us when we say it is the best city on earth.
