This cozy culinary outpost is perfect for a romantic date; the outdoor garden space, gold-colored cavernous walls, low ceilings and plotted glowing candles makes one feel as though they've left New York and wondered into a scene from Great Expectations. The menu at August varies month to month (no pun intended) and serves quirky dishes that reflect the mood and space: Spaghetti pie with squash and ricotta cheese, or beef goulash to warm your insides in the winter; crab salad and roasted squab to keep you feeling airy spring and summer months are favorites.
