The Thai food at this happenin' celeb hangout is positively outrageous (in a good way) -with celebrated chef, Ian Chalermkittichai cooking up signature dishes like braised chocolate short ribs, and steamed bass with lemon grass and lavender oil. But it's the scene that really sets this culinary wonder apart. Located in the basement of the ultimately chic Thompson Hotel, Kittichai is positively hip with dark polished wood furnishings, swanky lounge area, and whimsical origami swans (made from folded parchment paper) floating from the ceiling. This trendy dining outpost is a great date spot with intimate little nooks hidden behind plotted palms -perfect for stealing a smooch over a steaming pot of jasmine sticky rice. There is also private dining space available for VIP's and posh-y jet-set types with unlimited plastic. Kittichai is perpetually booked so reservations are a must, but you're likely to wait regardless. No matter. Curl up on the white banquets lining the lounge and indulge in a lychee-infused champagne martini before setting down to dinner. If you don’t score a table in the dining room, opt for an outdoor table or remain in the lounge where sexy singles and European night owls chat voraciously over cocktails and spring rolls -the bar menu is fantastic and serves up Kittichai classics bound to please even the most discerning foodies.

After dinner, head upstairs to A60 on the roof of the hotel. It’s where sophisticated celebs like Natalie Portman and Clair Danes, and fashion industry types go to enjoy panoramic views of lower Manhattan under a star-studded night sky. A60 is in high demand at the first hint of spring – when glamorous New Yorkers suffering from Cabin Fever come out to play. Not surprisingly then, the doorman at this rooftop hangout is notoriously strict.
