The Hotelito Desconocido in Mexico is among the top eco-chic resorts around the world. Established by Italian fashion designer, Marcello Murzilli (Charro), this hotel adds charm and sophistication to the outdoors. But just because you’re not in the comfort of man-made splendor, doesn’t mean you have to ditch your cute strappy sandals for… oh God dare I say it… TEVAS. No… this is nothing like that.

While the Hotelito may be deemed a “rustic” resort, your experience will be far from rough. Located just sixty miles south of Puerto Vallarta, the Hotelito has 25 palafitos (bungalows on stilts) that look out onto either the estuary or the beach. At night, candles and the moon serve as the only form of lighting, making this cozy beachfront village a perfect romantic getaway. The restaurants serve Mexican and international cuisine at a bunch of different dreamy locations, including down by the beach, by the tower, by the spa, and by the dock.

Due to the absence of telephones, in unique eco-chic manner, room service is requested by tugging a red rope (conveniently located by your bed), which hoists up a flag, signaling assistance – it’s pretty cool. And like room service, most everything at this resort is available at the touch of a…rope.

The spa proudly offers a large variety of amenities for those wishing to give into the temptation of this hotel’s renowned masseuses. However, for anyone inclined to get off their butts and explore, the hotel also offers a slew of activities ranging from fishing, to boat tours, to turtle watching, and horseback riding through the jungle.

So turn off your freakin’ Blackberry, leave your Manolos in the closet, and get ready to enjoy the natural beauty of Mexico.
