Change the world one smile at a time. Operation Smile is doing just that!
Operation Smile is the world’s leading not-for-profit organization that performs life-altering facial surgery on children worldwide. Volunteers and medical professionals travel around the globe to treat children suffering from facial deformities. Their efforts mean new smiles for thousands of children. That being said….

That is the reality of many children's lives around Kenya today. More than 20,000 Kenyan children live their lives with correctable facial deformities, without access to treatment. Operation Smile Mission in Kenya (OSMIK) has been active since 1987. Since then, Operation Smile volunteers have provided free surgery to over 5,000 Kenyan children. In addition to their physical problems, these children suffer from stigmatization, shame, shyness and pain. Luckily, Operation Smile can help.

To see the transformation of a cleft lip and palate from a deformity to a bright, smile is to witness a miracle, and to provide for the change is to perform one! These children, plagued with so many other drawbacks in life, are missing something that we can so easily give them in 45 minutes.

REMEMBER:
Our only reward is the smile of a child!
Together, we create smiles, change lives, and heal humanity.

TESTIMONIAL:
… I went on a mission. Just a few years ago, I found myself wearing OR scrubs ushering young, then deformed children into and out of surgery in a dilapidated hospital in Nekuru, Kenya. Over 300 parents with their children traveled from all over Africa, some risking everything for the voyage, just for the chance that their child might leave with a full smile. We were able to operate on 153 kids, and amazingly enough, we did that in 5 days.

Philanthropic Fever presents a variety of overseas expeditions in which you can help improve the lives of those less-fortunate and, in turn, truly enriching your own life. Naturally, many of us tend to travel just so we can lie out on the beach all day and party all night. However, for a real adventure and an unforgettable experience, why not donate that time to aiding one of the thousands of charities making unprecedented changes abroad? As you know, millions around the world are living in conditions of extreme poverty, hunger and disease. We know you’ve seen those heart-wrenching commercials of starving children in Africa, sporting distended bellies and naked malnourished limbs. Now it’s easy for you to take action and not just be an outraged spectator. Increasingly cheap international travel means that you can get out there and really make a difference! Wherever you go, expect your efforts to be met with enormous gratitude, and count on making lifelong friends.
